Conspiracy Theory

by MarkJT @ 19 Jan. 2008 - 01:32:51

Everyone loves a conspiracy theory. You wouldn’t be reading this otherwise.

I have an Aussie mate who just knows things. He was the first one to conjecture that Princess Diana was ‘knocked off’. He thought the American intelligence services were responsible for the Twin Towers.

Now he thinks that the jumbo that crash landed at Heathrow was an assassination attempt on Gordon Brown. After all, Mr Brown (is that his real name?) was at the airport when it happened. And the car he was in was directly beneath the stricken aircraft as it just cleared the perimeter fence (apparently).

He rang and told me about his theory today. I was astounded but offered an explanation.

‘It could have been a bird flying into the engine’ I said.

‘Yes, but, there were no feathers’ he replied.

He’s got a point.

Excellent, hadn't considered the 'death to brown' angle, although I did know of his presence in the vicinity. Maybe a bit of a long shot this one, but I'm always up for a good conspiracy.

Oddly enough, I'm not a lover of conspiracy theory but find those who are intriguing. Even more oddly, a mere two days ago, I caught a program expounding ideas as to why some folk believe. Seems those who do have three distinct traits. Namely: a lack of trust in others, a tendency to make assumptions based on minimal information, and feelings of alienation from society. No idea if all that's true but I guess if your mate fits the bill it just might be. James.

Honestly, if it were an assassination attempt, don't you think they'd have made more of an effort to hit his vehicle!?

And are the lives of all the people on board really worth sacrificing for one moron politician? :??:
